KickMint Medical Disclaimer
LEGAL REVIEW DISCLAIMER. This medical disclaimer is a strong starting template. It should be reviewed by a qualified legal professional, particularly if KickMint is later submitted under a health-adjacent App Store category or if features with direct clinical relevance are added (for example, medication tracking with dosage guidance). Nothing in this document constitutes legal advice.
1. KickMint is a productivity tool, not a medical product
KickMint is designed to help adults manage tasks, focus attention, and build momentum in their daily work and life. It is a general-purpose productivity application, not a medical device, not a therapeutic treatment, and not a diagnostic tool.
KickMint is not:
- A medical device under the definition of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR), or equivalent laws in any jurisdiction.
- A substitute for diagnosis or treatment of ADHD, anxiety, depression, or any other medical or mental health condition.
- A substitute for the advice, diagnosis, or treatment provided by a licensed physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other qualified healthcare professional.
- Intended to prevent, cure, or treat any disease or health condition.
- A therapeutic app approved or cleared by any regulatory authority.
KickMint does not:
- Diagnose ADHD or any other condition.
- Provide clinical recommendations.
- Prescribe or advise on medication.
- Replace medical supervision.
2. About the research referenced in KickMint
KickMint's design is informed by peer-reviewed scientific research on ADHD, executive function, and behavioral psychology. Features like task breakdown, implementation intentions, adaptive timers, and shame-free architecture are each grounded in published studies. Citations are available in our project documentation.
Citing research is not the same as making clinical claims. The research is the rationale for our design choices, not evidence that KickMint will achieve the same outcomes that were measured in controlled experimental settings.
Individual results from using KickMint will vary widely. Many factors, including ADHD subtype, comorbid conditions, current medication, life circumstances, and individual neurology, affect how any productivity tool works for any particular person.
3. If you are struggling
KickMint can be a helpful companion, but it works best alongside, not instead of, appropriate professional support.
If you are experiencing symptoms that significantly affect your daily life (persistent difficulty concentrating, completing tasks, managing time, regulating emotions, or maintaining relationships) please consider reaching out to a qualified healthcare provider.

If you are in immediate distress, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country. We do not name a specific number here because the right resource depends on where you live, and naming a single jurisdiction's number in a global document creates an inadequate safeguard for users elsewhere.
4. Medication tracking
KickMint includes an optional medication schedule feature. This feature is a reminder tool. It helps you remember that you take a medication at a certain time. It does not:
- Verify or validate your medication name or dosage.
- Provide guidance on whether or how to take any medication.
- Interact with electronic health records or pharmacy systems.
- Replace your prescribing physician's instructions.
Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions for any medication. If you have questions about your medication, ask your prescribing physician or pharmacist.
5. Apple Health
KickMint reads two Apple Health data types, and only with your explicit permission: Sleep Analysis and Menstrual Flow. Both are off until you grant permission, both are read on demand and never written to the app's database, and neither is transmitted anywhere. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy and Security, Health. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what is read and on what legal basis.
What KickMint does with it is scheduling, not medicine. Sleep informs how many steps a task is broken into; cycle phase informs the order tasks are suggested in and the optional cycle-rhythm pill on the Today tab. KickMint does not diagnose, predict or track a menstrual cycle as a health record, does not detect a sleep disorder, and does not give medical advice about either. It does not replace a period-tracking app or a sleep study, and nothing it shows should be used to make a medical decision.
These are special categories of personal data under GDPR Art. 9. KickMint processes them on the Art. 9(2)(a) explicit-consent basis, on your device only. Withdrawing permission in iOS Settings stops the processing immediately; the app keeps working without it.
6. Jurisdiction-specific notes
United States. KickMint has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. The FDA has published guidance distinguishing general wellness apps (which do not require clearance) from medical devices. KickMint is designed to fall within the general wellness category.
European Union. KickMint is not a medical device under EU MDR 2017/745 or EU IVDR 2017/746. It does not perform a medical function as defined in those regulations.
Other jurisdictions. If you are using KickMint in a country with specific regulations governing health or wellness apps, please consult local guidance or a legal professional to understand how those rules apply.
